Files in by 10 AM and most presentation folder orders are printed, scored and glued by 3:30 PM the same day. Larger runs, several hundred folders with pockets glued by hand, can occasionally push into the next morning, and we say so before you commit rather than after the run has started. The most common mistake on a presentation folder file is artwork that ignores the score line, where a logo or a color block runs straight across where the folder gets folded and glued. Once that fold happens, anything sitting on the crease can look pinched or slightly misaligned, so we lay a template over every incoming file and flag anything too close to that line before we print. If you are building the file yourself, we can send you the exact template with die lines and fold marks so your design software places everything correctly from the start.

Glue placement matters as much as the print itself. We glue the two side pockets by hand after scoring, leaving the top edge of each pocket open so a document slides in without catching on excess glue. Folders that will carry heavier documents, like a full closing package or a bound proposal, sometimes need a slightly heavier stock than our standard 14pt to keep the folder from sagging once it is loaded, and we will recommend that upgrade honestly if your use case calls for it rather than defaulting to the cheaper option.

Offices that order folders regularly, particularly law and financial firms in Encino and Sherman Oaks, keep a standing design on file with us so a reorder is a quantity and a date, not a new proofing round. Presentation folders have die cut pockets and a score line for the fold, and the most common mistake is artwork designed as a flat rectangle with no allowance for where the pocket cuts and the fold actually land once the folder is assembled. We overlay the die template on every folder file before printing, since a logo or text block that looks centered on a flat file can end up partly hidden inside a pocket or split awkwardly across the fold. The second issue is stock weight, since a folder needs to be heavy enough to hold papers without bending, and a customer's file is sometimes designed assuming a lighter weight than what a folder actually requires to function.

We default to a cover weight stock built for folders rather than a standard flyer weight, and flag it if a customer specifically wants something lighter for cost reasons. Presentation folders are a lower volume order for us compared to business cards or flyers, which means we take extra care on the proof step, since a mistake on a small run of folders meant for a client pitch or a real estate listing package in Encino or Sherman Oaks is more costly per piece than catching the same mistake on a much larger flyer run would ever be.
