CD cover printing is a smaller category than it used to be, but we still run it regularly for musicians, small studios, and businesses that hand out a physical disc, a demo reel, a training video, a wedding photo slideshow burned to disc for a client who wants a physical copy. We cut covers to fit a standard jewel case front and back insert, or a slim paper sleeve if that is what you are using instead. Files in by 10 AM and most CD or DVD cover orders are ready the same day.

A jewel case insert has two pieces most people forget to account for, the front and back cover, and the thin spine strip that shows the title when the case sits upright on a shelf. We lay out all three from one file if you send us the artwork, or build them from scratch if you send us a photo and the track or content list. Getting the spine text sized right matters more than it seems, too small and nobody can read the title in a stack of cases, especially under store or shelf lighting.

We work with a Valley recording studio on disc covers for demo reels and finished projects that need a physical copy for a client meeting or a submission, and the same day turnaround matters there because studio schedules do not always give much lead time before a meeting. If your job is time sensitive, tell us the deadline when you drop off the file and we will build the schedule around it rather than the standard afternoon cutoff, even if that means moving your job ahead in the queue.

Sleeve printing works well for a simpler order, a folded paper sleeve with printing on the outside and sometimes the inside, cheaper than a full jewel case set and faster to assemble for a large batch. We can quote either format once we know roughly how many discs you are covering and whether this is a one time run or something you will reorder as new projects finish, and we will keep the layout on file either way. and if plans change between now and then, updating the count is a quick call, not a new order.

The spine on a jewel case is the narrowest piece of the whole cover and the easiest to get wrong, since text that looks fine on a full size cover can shrink down to nearly nothing on a spine a few millimeters wide. We check spine text size before anything prints and will flag it if we think it will not read once the case is standing upright on a shelf. This is one of the more common fixes we make on a CD cover file before it goes to press, and it takes only a minute to correct.

If you need the disc itself labeled along with the cover, that is a separate step from the printed cover insert, and we can talk through options depending on whether you are duplicating discs in house or sending them out to a duplication service. Tell us your setup when you order the covers so we can make sure the printed pieces match whatever the disc itself ends up looking like once both pieces sit side by side in the case. We would rather ask a question up front than guess and end up with a cover that does not match the disc it is protecting.

For a one off project, a wedding slideshow or a single demo reel, a small run of covers is no different in price or turnaround than a large batch, we do not have a minimum order on this page any more than on any other. For a studio placing repeat orders as new projects wrap, we keep your cover template on file so updating the title and track list for the next release is a quick turnaround rather than a full new layout, saved for whenever the next project ships.

CD and DVD inserts are an odd size, close to five inches square for a jewel case booklet, and the most common mistake is a file designed at a slightly wrong dimension because a template downloaded online does not match the actual case being used. We check the file against the physical case size before printing, not just the file's stated dimensions, since a booklet a sixteenth of an inch off will not sit flat once it is folded and inserted. The tray card insert is a second trouble spot, since its cutout for the spindle needs to line up exactly or the artwork looks off center once the disc is in the case.

Musicians and small businesses using discs for portfolios or promotional handouts often send us artwork built for a square Instagram post, which does not account for the spine text that wraps around a jewel case. We flag that during the file check and either add the spine panel ourselves through our in house graphic design or ask for a corrected file. Every CD and DVD cover order gets a proof before printing, since the format is small enough that a single misaligned element is obvious the moment the case is closed and impossible to fix after the fact.
